The UK's Most Advanced Clinical Waste-To-Energy Plant

The Hixon Clinical Waste Facility is a new clinical waste incineration facility at Church Lane, The Hixon Industrial State, Hixon, Stafford. The proposal seeks to construct a facility which will include an HTI process that will safely handle hazardous and clinical waste. The project has been designed to recover all available heat produced during the incineration of waste and will subsequently utilise the heat for onsite uses and to meet the building heating and process loads. Furthermore, the project has been designed with the capacity to export approximately 1 - 2MWth of process heat to neighbouring industrial users.

The new plant will be capable of processing up to 3,560 tonnes of clinical waste per annum. The facility will use proven incineration technology based on a reciprocating grate system. Heat will be recovered from the process via a modern waste heat recovery boiler. The boiler raises saturated steam, which will be used to generate electricity, complete with generation sets and will provide hot water to wash the clinical waste receptacles.

Specialists in waste management "UBH group" have been appointed by Inwaste to take control of the technical and management functions.
